The operators of Santo , Silver Lake’s popular Japanese Mexican fusion spot, are planning to open a new cafe and wine bar in the neighborhood. Dubbed Barr Seco , the cozy space will offer up dishes inspired by Mexico City, Manila, and the Mediterranean, paired with natural wines curated by sommelier Kae Whalen, according to Eater LA .

The kitchen will be helmed by chef David Potes , who trained under Yuji Haraguchi of New York’s Okonomi and Yuji Ramen, eventually becoming head ramen chef. He also served as executive chef for the new Oko/YR restaurant locations in Japan and Bangkok. Eventually, chef Potes relocated to Los Angeles, where he found himself cooking for private dinners, events, and ramen pop ups.

Santo first opened its doors in Mexico City in 2019, followed by its Silver Lake spot in 2023.

“Santo Group is a renowned hospitality group offering a diverse range of concepts, from bars to fine dining Japanese restaurants, each providing a unique and unforgettable experience. Our spaces are designed to be more than just venues, they are a hub for community and culture, innovation, and high-quality hospitality,” their website states .

According to the new restaurant’s Google listing, it should be open in July.
