USC Trojans commit Julian Lewis is one of the best prospects in the 2025 recruiting class, which features several quarterbacks who could eventually become the new faces of college football. While Lewis was one of the youngest players at the Elite 11 Finals, he evidently made quite the impression.
Lewis was originally set to be the Trojans’ top recruit in 2026, but he announced in January that he would graduate from Carrolton High School a year early, making him a part of the 2025 recruiting class. It also meant competing against quarterbacks who were older and had more experience than Lewis.
Arriving at the Elite 11 Finals, Lewis had an opportunity to prove he is one of the best high school quarterbacks in the nation. While he didn’t ultimately have the best performance among his peers, dealing with some inconsistency, he also showed some impressive flashes.
Andrew Ivins of 247 Sports ranked Lewis as the seventh-best quarterback during the Elite 11 Finals. While he did make a note of Lewis being undersized, the Trojans’ commit did impress in other areas.
“He’s surgical with his ball placement. Lewis had the highest pro day score on Wednesday and followed that performance up with one of the cleaner 7-on-7 games as he barely put the ball in danger. Lewis might not have a prototypical build, but he has the makeup of a high-volume, up-tempo passer that can pick defenses apart.”

While Lewis might not have been the most consistent quarterback nor did he display the most athleticism or strongest arm, he did stand out in another area that matters a lot to coach Lincoln Riley.
Charles Power of On3.com created superlatives for the quarterbacks in attendance at the Elite 11 Finals. Lewis earned the title of being the most accurate quarterback.
“Lewis lived up to his reputation as a highly accurate pocket passer at the Elite 11 Finals. The USC pledge was the most accurate passer on hand over the course of the week, particularly on the final two days. Lewis was on target during his pro day session and finished second to Tavien St. Clair in the accuracy challenge. He carried that over into day three, where he was able to deliver with touch and location during his 7-on-7 session. The 6-foot, 186-pounder’s high level of developmental polish allows him to play with advanced accuracy, adding to his skill set as a cerebral distributor. “

As NFL coaches like Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan would highlight, some of the best traits a quarterback can have are accuracy and sound decision-making. It means the coach can have complete confidence that their quarterback will make decisions quickly and put the football exactly where it needs to go. So, while Lewis isn’t the best athlete in his class and he lacks prototypical size, the accuracy and football IQ are what matter to Riley.
