    Crazy Town frontman and founder Shifty Shellshock dead at 49

    Shifty Shellshock , the frontman of rap/rock band Crazy Town , has died at 49. According to the Los Angeles’ coroners office, Shellshock died at his home on Monday (June 24), and the cause of death is still pending investigation.

    Shellshock, born Seth Binzer, co-founded Crazy Town alongside Bret Hadley “Epic” Mazur in 1995. Their debut album The Gift of Game dropped in November 1999, featuring the band’s best known single “Butterfly,” which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

    The band’s sophomore album, 2002’s Darkhorse , failed to reach the same commercial success of the first LP, and the band broke up shortly after. Re-forming again in 2007, releasing one more album, The Brimstone Sluggers , in 2015.

    Throughout the bands tenor, the duo went on to add various members, including Adam Goldstein (better known as the late DJ AM), Rust Epique , Antonio Lorenzo Valli, James Bradley Jr. , among others.

    Open about his struggles with sobriety, Shifty appeared on addiction related reality television shows Celebrity Rehab and Sober House . Last year, Shellshock made headlines when he engaged in a physical altercation with bandmate Bobby Reeves after a show in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was arrested a few days later for DUI.

    According to TMZ reports, Shellshock’s death is being investigated as a possible drug overdose, as drug paraphernalia was allegedly found near his body.
