Shohei Ohtani can't stop dodging danger in 2024. The first close call came just before the season started, when the Los Angeles Dodgers superstar was caught up in the middle of a sports gambling scandal. When the story first broke, there were a lot of grey areas and question marks. One of first big moves for the Dodgers was firing Ohtani's best friend and interpreter
, who allegedly racked up $4.5 million in sports gambling debt. It was determined that Ohtani knew nothing about the gambling, despite the fact he was "best friends" with his interpreter and they were often described as inseparable. And how could I forget about the $4.5 million that was transferred to a bookie directly from Shohei Ohtani's bank account... Anyways, enough about that, since it's apparently in the past and Ohtani is in the clear . We'll now turn our attention to a less serious run in with danger that the Dodgers standout experienced more recently. This time, it wasn't a close call with a potentially career-ending scandal - it was with a baseball hurtling right towards his face. Luckily for Ohtani, there was an attentive bat boy standing close by that just might have saved Ohtani's life. The video has spread all over social media, and you've got to applaud the bat boy's instincts for barehanding the baseball that came rocketing right towards the dugout. It might be the best catch in the history of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and that would be saying something. Take a look: https://twitter.com/MLB/status/1806363213111423125 Whatever money the Dodgers were paying Ohtani's interpreter, they need to redirect to that ballboy. Shoutout to him for saving Ohtani's life... as social media users pointed out:
