USC football was excluded from a preseason list -- and that's a good thing

In many cases, college football teams want to be on preseason lists. This is not one of those cases. USC football was excluded from a preseason list, and Trojan fans should be happy about this.

Pro Football Focus listed the five college football programs under the most pressure heading into the 2024 season. USC did not make that quintet. Two other Big Ten teams made this short list. One is Ohio State. PFF wrote:

“Losing to Michigan three years in a row is the real blemish on their resume. Ryan Day’s seat might start to get warm if Ohio State doesn’t take down the Wolverines in 2024. It feels like a championship-or-bust type of year for the program. This is arguably the most talented roster in the country, perhaps the best team of Day’s tenure. Urban Meyer seems to believe so.

“Day has done everything in his power to build an elite squad, securing transfer portal additions Caleb Downs, Quinshon Judkins, Seth McLaughlin and others. Now it’s on the players to perform. Things could come down to quarterback play, a position where the Buckeyes have a handful of potential starters but none who have separated themselves from the pack.”
