Paul George spoke recently on his 'Podcast P' about Bronny James getting drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers . George joked about what Bronny will call his dad when they're on the same team, before looking forward to watching Bronny throw a lob for LeBron to alley-oop.
“I don’t know how soon JJ Redick is going to throw Bronny out there. But it’ll be cool to see. Just imagine, that Bronny throws a lob to LeBron. LA is going to go crazy… It's just the dynamic of that. Bronny (is) going to be on a little fast break, Bron is trying to chase it down.”
George added that he is very excited to see Bronny in the NBA, and claimed that he has high potential in the NBA to be a success. George is clearly a believer in the potential of Bronny James.
“I think so. I’m a fan of Bronny. I think he has NBA potential for sure.”
Bronny James was selected by the Lakers with the 55th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. The Lakers are excited by both the player and the person James proved himself to be, as Lakers GM Rob Pelinka said in the press conference after the second round of the draft.
The Lakers will probably be sending Bronny to the G League to develop, as he is still quite a raw prospect who needs to develop before he plays regular NBA minutes. But we are very likely to see at least one game where LeBron James and Bronny James are on the court together at the same time.
Many NBA Players Think Highly Of Bronny James
George is far from the only player looking forward to watching Bronny James in the NBA. Recently, Draymond Green recently spoke on his podcast and noted that Bronny will be a success in the NBA because of his genetics, and added that being the son of LeBron James has given him some great physical gifts but also a solid basketball IQ.
"We all know what Bronny went through a year ago. To go through that and make it back from that and be in the NBA within a year, is a testament to his drive and work ethic."
"I think Bronny is going to end up being a better pro than a lot of these players in the 2024 draft because he has the athleticism, has the basketball IQ, plays the game the right way. I think he's going to be a good shooter in the NBA. I'm just going to take the bet that this kid works hard, which he does, and he’s got LeBron James' DNA. And then you watch him play, and he's a good basketball player."
Bronny will always have known about the struggles he would have if he ever made it to the NBA. With his father being one of the greatest players of all time, there was never going to be a situation where Bronny wasn't compared to him. But he should focus on his own game and development, and try to be his own player.
Lakers fans will get their first glimpse at Bronnyn James next month, as the NBA Summer League takes place in Las Vegas. James will be looking to impress JJ Redick and the rest of the Lakers staff ahead of the next season to earn some minutes with the team next season.
