Insane Miguel Rojas streak comes to end in Dodgers loss to Giants

The Dodgers on Friday opened their three-game series against the Giants with a 5-3 walk-off loss at Oracle Park. For Los Angeles the loss snapped a four-game winning streak and allowed San Francisco to gain a game in the standings. It also snapped an incredible streak by shortstop Miguel Rojas.

Rojas in the top of the fifth led off with a ground ball single through the right side. It marked his 25th game with a hit this season. LA had won the previous 24 games in which he had at least one hit. Dating back to last year they were 25-0 in games where Rojas had a hit.

The last time the Dodgers lost a game where Rojas earned a knock was Sept. 22 of last season -- a 5-1 loss to the Giants.

It looked like his streak might stay intact when Gavin Lux immediately followed with a double that scored Rojas.

Alas, the Dodgers' quest for a perfect record when Rojas gets a hit fell short. Their 2-1 lead evaporated in the bottom of the sixth when Giants third baseman Matt Chapman hit a two-run home run.

Jason Heyward would tie it for the Dodgers at 3-3 with a home run in the top of the ninth, but San Francisco answered with a two-run walk-off home run by Brett Wisley in the bottom of the frame to lift the Giants to a 5-3 win and erase the Dodgers' perfect record when Rojas had a hit.

The 25-1 record is still extremely impressive, it just doesn't look as cool as 26-0 would have.
