BET celebrated culture’s biggest night on Sunday with the 2024 BET Awards at Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

The ceremony, hosted by Taraji P. Henson, opened with a hot performance from Megan Thee Stallion, whose third studio album “Megan” dropped on Friday. Victoria Monét, Latto, Shaboozey, Sexyy Red and Glorilla and others performed their recent hits. And Will Smith, fresh off the box-office hit “ Bad Boys: Ride or Die, ” gave a rousing performance of his new track, “You Can Make It.”

Usher — who has had a blockbuster couple of years, with a buzzy Las Vegas residency, national tour and Super Bowl halftime show performance — was given the Lifetime Achievement Award. Childish Gambino, Keke Palmer, Marsha Ambrosius, Summer Walker, Coco Jones, Teyana Taylor, Victoria Monét, Chloe Bailey, Tinashe and Latto performed a tribute to some of Usher’s biggest hits. But Usher himself was largely inaudible, as BET censored the broadcast of most of his profanity-laced acceptance speech.

HuffPost reporters and editors watched and blogged the ceremony. Catch up on what you missed below.
