While several big names will likely switch teams this NBA free agency period, Clippers guard James Harden won’t be one of them.

The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported on Sunday that Harden will sign a two-year, $70 million contract to remain in Los Angeles.

His decision takes one potential player off the board for the Clippers' main rival, the Lakers.

On Saturday, reports surfaced that Lakers forward LeBron James was willing to take a pay cut if the Lakers could add Harden, guard Klay Thompson or center Jonas Valanciunas.

Harden forced a trade to the Clippers early during the 2023-24 season and played 72 games with the team.

He averaged 16.6 points, 8.5 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game.

Harden’s re-signing is massive for a Clippers team expected to lose Paul George in free agency.
