Taraji P. Henson brought golden glamour to the 2024 BET Awards the night of June 30. The host of Black culture’s biggest night wore a Balmain gown with sparkling black pumps by Betsey Johnson.

The BET Awards celebrate achievements in entertainment, honoring excellence in music, sports, television and movies. Taraji P. Henson will host the 2024 event, which will feature performances by Ice Spice, Tyla, GloRilla, Latto, Muni Long, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey, Victoria Monét and more. The evening unfolds at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.

The “Color Purple” star, who returns to host the event for the third time, turned heads in a custom dress from Balmain. The intricately designed garment featured chain straps and a fitted silhouette, with the hem brushing the floor. The body of the dress included columns of chains connected with fine strands of golden-hued fabric, which was draped and interwoven with the metal in U-shapes. A black bustier with a sweetheart neckline peeked above the top of the dress. Styling team Wayman Bannerman and Micah McDonald curated the look.

Henson accented the eye-catching outfit with Tiffany and Co.’s Titan jewelry designed by Pharell. She also wore long golden nails courtesy of Tameka Jackson. Styled by TYM Wallis and Albert Morrison, her short dark hair was pulled to one side and highlighted with blonde streaks.

Henson paired her Balmain dress with a pair of black pumps that boasted a tall, narrow heel. The shoes were enclosed around the back and open around the sides, with a sharply angled toe and a thin ankle strap. The timeless pumps featured a glittering textured fabric, offering additional glamour to Henson’s ensemble.

Henson appreciates the shine of a gold wardrobe item. She recently wore a pair of reflective golden mules for the NBCUniversal Upfront on May 13; she slipped into a pair of pumps by Roger Vivier in a more muted shade of gold at the Tony Awards on June 16.

Every year, the BET Awards display a range of high-fashion looks, with this year’s attendees including Colman Domingo, Chlöe Bailey, Tinashe and more stars from the world of Black entertainment.
