The Los Angeles Lakers held a press conference on Tuesday to introduce their second-round pick, Bronny James . Head coach JJ Redick emphasized that the 19-year-old player earned his spot on the team based on his own skills and abilities, rather than just being the son of the legendary LeBron James.

“I want to clarify one thing you just said,” Redick started out saying. “Rob and I did not give Bronny anything, Bronny has earned this. Bronny talks about his hard work and Bronny has earned this through hard work and for us prioritizing player development we view Bronny as like case study #1. There’s a lot to like about his game  and as we start to build out our player development program, holistically he’s going to have a great opportunity to become an excellent NBA player.”

As we previously reported, last Thursday, Bronny James , the eldest son of LeBron James, was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA draft. He was chosen as the 55th overall pick in the draft’s second round, with only a few picks left for the year.

As we previously reported, many people on social media felt like Bronny James being drafted to the Lakers was “nepotism” which sparked a lot of conversation on social media.

The uproar on social media got so loud it even brought rapper Rick Ross into the discussion and he slammed people for speaking down on Bronny James’ talent.

“Nepotism-Nepotism. You all making me sick, every two years you’all coming up with a new word. ‘The Narrative’, ‘Toxicity’, ‘Toxic’, now it is Nepotism. 85% all you motherf***ers got a job by somebody you know.”

“Little Bronny is a bigger star than 95% of the motherf***ers in the league man. This big business. Lil Brunny sell more wing stock wings than anybody. 95% of the people that’s in the motherf***ing backup squads and all that s**t.”

“First n***s who want to get in the concert free. You n****s standing in line at the side door in the rain and you want to say nepotism.”
