Ann Wilson, lead singer of iconic rock band Heart, announced Tuesday she recently had a cancerous growth removed and is now undergoing preventative chemotherapy, forcing a cancellation of the band's concerts for the rest of the year, including an L.A. stop.

"I recently underwent an operation to remove something that, as it turns out, was cancerous," Wilson, 74, wrote in a message on social media. "The operation was successful & I'm feeling great but my doctors are now advising me to undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy & I've decided to do it.

"And so my doctors are instructing me to take the rest of the year away from the stage in order to fully recover," she wrote. "To the ticket buyers, I really do wish we could do these gigs. Please know that I absolutely plan to be back on stage in 2025. My team is getting those details sorted & we'll let you know the plan as soon as we can."

She concluded with: "Thank you for all the support. This is merely a pause. I've much more to sing."

Heart -- famed for hits such as "Barracuda," "What About Love," "These Dreams," "Magic Man" and "Crazy on You" -- had been scheduled to perform at Crypto.com Arena in downtown Los Angeles on Sept. 28. According to the band, fans were urged to hold onto their tickets, which will be honored when concert dates are rescheduled.

The band, led by Wilson and her sister Nancy, previously scrubbed the European leg of its tour, saying Ann Wilson had undergone a routine procedure that required six weeks of recovery.
