Justin Herbert is Turning Heads at Chargers Camp Amid Learning New Offense

The Los Angeles Chargers made some big changes this offseason after hiring Jim Harbaugh as head coach. With him, comes along a new offensive coordinator for the team Greg Roman. With the entire team learning a new offensive scheme, it sounds like Justin Herbert is picking things up quickly.
Veteran center, Bradley Bozeman, signed with the Chargers as a free agent this offseason. He's incredibly familiar with Roman's scheme after playing for the seasoned coach with the Baltimore Ravens. Bozeman sat down with Chargers Editorial Director, Eric Smith, and revealed that Justin Herbert is blowing his mind with how quickly he's learning the new offense.
"He acts like he's been in the system for 10 years. He dives so deep into the system and knew it so well before anyone else could even grasp it. It's been impressive to see him put people in the right positions and just elevate people around him."
That's exactly what you want to hear from your franchise quarterback. But this is nothing new for Justin Herbert. During his time in college playing for the Oregon Ducks, he played for three different head coaches; Mark Helfrich, Willie Taggert, and Mario Cristobal.

On top of that, this is Herbert's third coach in the pros, as he's played for Anthony Lynn, Brandon Staley, and now Jim Harbaugh. So, considering the star quarterback has gone through so many coaching changes throughout his football career, it's safe to say he knows exactly how to pick up a new offense at the drop of a dime.
The Chargers are hopeful to elevate the team with Harbaugh calling the shots now. Jim Harbaugh nearly won a Super Bowl when he was the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers. After coaching the Michigan Wolverines for eight seasons, he finally led his team to a National Title win last year.
That winning pedigree is what the Chargers have been missing for several years now. They're almost always competitive but just haven't been able to pose a serious threat in the postseason. That could all change now with Jim Harbaugh, as he's implementing an offense that should focus heavily on the run game.
We'll see how it plays out for Los Angeles. The good news is that Justin Herbert is learning quickly and already looks ready for the upcoming season. If he can continue playing at a high level then the Chargers could be in the playoff hunt. Herbert finished last season with 3,134 passing yards, 23 total touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He only played 13 games due to injury.
