NBA Insider Makes Major Announcement About Lakers' Plans For Bronny James

The most controversial player in the NBA at the moment has yet to set foot on the court.

We have seen him for years after games shooting hoops, and even watched him grow up in a sense dating back to his time on the AAU circuit through last week's NBA draft. The player in question is new Lakers guard, Bronny James. The oldest son of LeBron James was taken with the No. 55 overall pick. Of course, this came after his agent threatened he'd go to Australia if other teams attempted to draft him, and he refused to work out for other teams.

Although his being drafted and having a chance to make history with his father as the first father-son duo to ever play together in an NBA game is a unique story, fans are not thrilled with the perceived nepotism. There is a belief around the NBA that he is taking up a roster spot that belongs to someone more deserving, and the recent announcement that he is getting a fully guaranteed contract didn't help matters.

However, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Wednesday that James being on the NBA roster for the entirety of the season isn't something he foresees.

Wojnarowski expressed that there are "no expectations" for James to be a mainstay in the rotation for the Lakers, and revealed that he is instead destined to be spending time with the South Bay Lakers, their G League affiliate.

"What the Lakers' expectations are is that he'll largely be a G League player like almost any 19-year-old player coming into the league drafted in the second round," Wojnarowski said on SportsCenter. "I think ultimately what you'll probably see is Bronny James in the first week of the season on the court with his father in a very...I don't want to call it ceremonial but the eyes of the world will be on that.

"They'll do that the first week of the season but there's no expectation Bronny James is going to be in the Lakers rotation. He'll spend a lot of his time playing with their G League team which shares a practice facility with the Lakers."

Even if it is just for a minute or two, Bronny and LeBron being on the court together will be a moment the sports world never forgets. However, it is clear once they get the pomp and circumstance out of the way, the younger James will have to really work his way into the NBA.
