Number 55 overall NBA Draft pick Bronny James signed a four-year, $7.9 million guaranteed contract with the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday, a deal that included the same type of guaranteed money usually reserved for first-round picks.

James also revealed his innermost feelings on a difficult time he went through last summer with the Trojans that he believes stunted his growth as a basketball player.

James suffered cardiac arrest on July 24 in Los Angeles, a setback that he believes stunted his growth as a basketball player.

James averaged 4.8 points per game at USC and played less than 20 minutes per game.

"The time that I had off, I feel like I could've been perfecting my game more," James said at the Lakers' introductory press conference.

"I just feel like I've been given the opportunity to show what I can really do because I wasn't give that much of an opportunity at (USC).

"So I'm excited for what is to come."
