Bronny James ' immediate future on the Lakers has been secured, as the 19-year-old signed a four-year contract with the franchise after being drafted No. 55 in the 2024 NBA Draft. Bronny has been a highly debated prospect, but Adrian Wojnarowski has revealed that the guard will spend most of his season in the G League, after making his Lakers debut early in the season.

“What the Lakers’ expectations are is that he’ll largely be a G League player, like almost any 19-year-old player coming into the league drafted in the second round... I think what you’ll ultimately, probably see is Bronny James in the first week of the season on the court with his father in a very … I don’t want to call it ceremonial, but the eyes of the world will be on that. They’ll do that the first week of the season, but there’s no expectation Bronny James is going to be in the Lakers’ rotation.”

    (Starts at 2:14)

Woj has confirmed that the Lakers will likely create a marketing highlight for the season in the first week by having LeBron James and Bronny share the floor together. They're the first father-son duo to be active players in the league simultaneously, and will likely set a record that won't be easy to break by sharing the court together.

That doesn't change the fact that Bronny is a raw prospect and needs to find a way to develop before he can claim to be a rotational player in the NBA. The G League is the best path for him, and if he makes noticeable jumps in his game, a rotation spot may await him in a couple of seasons.

Bronny James Knows There's Extra Pressure On His Shoulders

Bronny is coming into the NBA under a unique spotlight as the 55th pick in the NBA Draft. Playing alongside his father in what many believe to be a carefully orchestrated fashion is going to attract hate. Bronny opened up on the same in his introductory press conference, admitting he's dealing with an extra layer of pressure .

"For sure an amplified amount of pressure. I've already seen it on social media and stuff talking about how I might not deserve an opportunity. There are a lot of people who have something to say, but I've been dealing with stuff like this for my whole life, so it's nothing different. It's more amplified for sure but I get through it."

His father has been the most polarizing NBA superstar we've ever seen, so Bronny will have someone to rely on in the locker room. He admitted that he and LeBron haven't broken down what's to come over their tenure as teammates.

"We haven't gone too deep into that stuff yet. Especially because we haven't even started summer league yet. But it's just stuff that he's been telling me my whole life. Just having that work ethic and putting that work in and listening to your coaches and being coachable."

Bronny will be a part of the Lakers Summer League squad, with fans excited to see him and first-round pick Dalton Knecht in action.
