The Philadelphia 76ers are relatively unaffected by the loss of sharpshooter Buddy Hield, but another team continues to suffer.

The Los Angeles Lakers have sought out talent on the market since the start of the offseason with nothing to show for it. Hield can reportedly be added to the list of players the Lakers missed out on, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

“Hield chose the Warriors because of the opportunity to win over other interested suitors, including the Detroit Pistons and Los Angeles Lakers,” Charania wrote . “After losing Thompson, the Warriors were in desperate search for a high-volume shooter who could open up the floor a bit more in some of their lineup combinations. That’s Hield’s specialty. Since 2017, the only player to make more 3-pointers than Hield is his new teammate, Steph Curry.”

It seems strange that the Warriors were able to replace Thompson so swiftly while LA’s front office has brought in almost no new faces. The Lakers are constantly in the spotlight, largely due to superstar LeBron James and his impact on the league. Not to mention, they have little playoff success to display since their championship in 2020.
