LeBron James Sums Up Kevin Durant's Impact in Nine-Word Statement

LeBron James and Kevin Durant have become the elder statesmen of the U.S. Olympic team, representing their country in four Summer Olympics.

The Los Angeles Lakers star reflected on the importance of the achievement, telling reporters on July 6 that it's a testament to the pair that they have been able to remain at a high level for such a long stretch.

“To us staying relatively healthy, obviously we’ve had some bumps and bruises throughout our careers but our game still translates from 12 years ago to now and it’s always great to team with one of the greatest of all time," James said .

James then issued a nine-word statement summing up the importance of their achievement and their impact on the game.

"It's a salute to the commitment to our craft," he said.

Durant is the all-time leading scorer on the U.S. men's team with 435 points, reaching double-figure scoring in all 22 contests. James is third all-time with 273 points and first in assists with 88.

James said he's excited to return to the team this summer and believes he still has a lot to contribute.

“I’m still playing a high level,” James said, via The Associated Press . “I still love the game of basketball. And Team USA has done well by me, so I felt like it was important for this summer to be able to go out there and play with the rest of the guys.”
