Not even the bright lights and the allure of the City of Angels seem to be enough to help the Los Angeles Lakers make the huge free agency splash their fans have been waiting for the team to make in the offseason.

The likes of Klay Thompson, Paul George, DeMar DeRozan, and even Jonas Valanciunas all went somewhere else, leaving the Lakers devoid of a big offseason addition.

The Lakers made a move though on Saturday, as they re-signed big man Colin Castleton to a two-way deal, the team announced via X (formerly Twitter).

Unfortunately for the Lakers, they – particularly their front office – just became a bigger joke in the eyes of a lot of fans.

    “Game changer banner 18 loading”

“You can tell JJ the coach 😭😭”

“You guys know you need to sign actual players during free agency right?”

“Bro we not getting past the play-in… these aren’t the moves we NEED???”

    “White Castle!”

“When I said the Lakers need a center this is not who I had in mind.

    “Pelinka can’t be stopped 🔥🔥🔥🔥”

Castleton, who went undrafted last year, appeared in 16 games in the 2023-24 NBA season in Los Angeles threads, averaging just 1.5 points and 0.8 rebounds. Rim protection was considered to be a chief asset of the former Florida Gators star heading into the 2023 NBA Draft, but he’s yet to record a single block in the league.
