Lakers Make Concerning Bronny James Announcement Before NBA Summer League Game

    By Grant Young,

Los Angeles Lakers rookie Bronny James made his NBA summer league debut on Saturday.

While James finished the game with 4 points, 2 assists, and 2 rebounds in 22 minutes played, he made the most news after getting his ankles broken in the first few minutes of the game.

The Lakers are less than an hour away from their second NBA Summer League game against the Golden State Warriors.

But Bronny James won't be playing.

According to an X post from Lakers beat reporter Mike Trudell, "Bronny James has some trace swelling in his left knee, and will be held out of today’s second day of a back-to-back for precautionary reasons.

He’s expected to play in Wednesday’s final California Classic game vs. Miami," Trudell added.

This announcement has fans worried and upset in equal measure.

"Summer league load management," one X user wrote.

"I’m literally at the game bro," said another fan, along with a crying emoji.

"Had to protect him after a bad first game. Can’t have two stinkers in a row," said a third.

While it sounds like this move is more precautionary than anything else, we still hope Bronny recovers fast and will indeed play on Wednesday.
