Bronny James was among the most anticipated players to appear in the NBA Summer League, but just one game into his professional career, James will be taking some time off.

James is sitting out of Sunday's California Classic contest against the Warriors as he battles a knee injury. James appeared in the first game of the California Classic in San Francisco, scoring four points in 22 minutes.

James, the son of Lakers star LeBron James, has entered the offseason with plenty of fanfare despite averaging 4.8 points in 25 games with USC as a freshman in the 2023-24 season.

Here's the latest on his knee injury.

    Where is Bronny James?

The Lakers will be without James in the team's second Summer League game. He is reportedly out with a knee injury, according to Lakers reporter Mike Trudell .

James reportedly has some trace swelling in his left knee, but he will be ready to play again in the final California Classic game on Wednesday.

Despite being a second-round rookie, James received a major commitment from the Lakers in the form of a four-year, guaranteed contract, a rare move that ensures he will be in the pros rather than start in the G League as a rookie.
