Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James recently signed a two-year, $101.35-million extension to remain with the team. His decision to sign this deal saved a couple million so the Lakers could go free-agent shopping to help chase another ring. However, they haven't done anything with the extra money yet and have been quiet in free agency.

After signing his new deal, LeBron sat down with ESPN's NBA reporter Dave McMenamin for a one-on-one conversation. They discussed a number of things, including one of the Lakers' newest additions—his son Bronny James.

McMenamin also asked LeBron if this newest contract will be his last. James didn't hesitate to answer.

"I mean, it could be. I'm not going to sit up here and say, 'Maybe not.' But yeah, it could be, easily. We'll see what happens," LeBron said.

Despite the lack of free agent acquisitions, the Lakers have made some significant changes to the team. First, they replaced former head coach Darvin Ham with the inexperienced JJ Redick, whom LeBron hosted a podcast with.

Next, the Lakers had, arguably, the steal of the 2024 NBA Draft by selecting Tennessee Volunteers forward Dalton Knecht with the No. 17 pick. Many mock drafts had him going in the top ten, but he slid all the way down to the Lakers. Knecht joins Bronny in the Lakers' 2024 draft class.

LeBron will enter his 22nd season in the NBA in 2024–25. His new contract will carry him through years 22 and 23. Throughout his career, James has won four NBA titles, four MVPs, and 20 All-Star appearances.
