The Los Angeles Dodgers have released infielder Jonathan Arauz, according to the infielder’s page on MLB.com.

Arauz spent the first three months of the season playing several infield positions for the Triple-A Oklahoma City Baseball Club. While in the minors, he slashed .227/.286/.324.

Before signing a minor league deal with the Dodgers in the offseason, Arauz played in 27 games last season for the New York Mets, batting .136 with three home runs and nine RBIs in 59 at-bats. He played 15 games at third base, seven at second base, and five at shortstop, committing just one error with 46 assists and 24 putouts in 169 innings. It was his versatility that drew the Dodgers to him but his offensive game lacked, which is what led to his release.

Arauz was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies as an international free agent in 2014 and made his professional debut in Philadelphia’s system at just 16. He has played in parts of four seasons at the MLB level with the Boston Red Sox (2020-22), Baltimore Orioles (2022) and Mets (2023).

The native of Panama has a big-league career batting average of .184 with eight homers, 31 RBIs, a .253 on-base percentage, and a .308 slugging percentage.
