Breckenridge Distillery announced in June that the Colorado distillery joined forces with Los Angeles, California-based artist Abby Wren in the fourth release of the brand's Collectors Art Series. The whiskey was finished in Sauternes casks and features a custom, brightly colored label created by Wren herself. Breckenridge shared that the custom whiskey label will also be featured in a mural in Denver, Colorado's RiNo Art District, and the piece celebrates the similarities of blending color and blending whiskey. Wren uses her art to champion inclusivity, often featuring intergalactic images of aliens. She additionally works as a makeup artist and digital creator, according to her
website . In 2006, she was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease Alopecia Totalis and lost her hair and eyebrows as a result. She found makeup, and according to her biography "hasn't looked back since." Wren views her bald look as a canvas for creative expression, and she serves as an inspiration within the beauty community. The 96-proof whiskey will be available in limited quantities starting July 12. It hosts a suggested retail price of $125 and is available exclusively in the tasting room at Breckenridge, Colorado. Sauternes is a type of dessert wine found in the Bordeaux region of France. The grapes featured in the wine are Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle. The white grapes hang on the vine and get infected by a fungus called Botrytis, or "the noble rot." This fungus raisinates the grapes and yields a wine with lusciously tropical, honeyed qualities. Last June, Breckenridge
released the previous whiskey in its Collectors Art Series, a whiskey finished in PX Naranja casks.
