Katie Maloney Opens up About Running Something About Her While Ariana Madix Is Hosting Love Island USA

The opening of Something About Her was a lengthy event, fraught with bureaucratic hurdles and delays. Finally, in May 2024, more than a year after signing the lease, Katie Maloney and Ariana Madix opened their eatery.

There was a lot of enthusiasm at the time of opening. But the challenges didn’t end there. Currently, Ariana is on location in Fiji to host Love Island USA . And Katie has been left with the brunt of the work.

Ariana is missing out on “the fun little things”

The Vanderpump Rules star appeared on the July 2 episode of the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast to discuss running Something About Her in Ariana’s absence.

The VPR veteran talks to Ariana “all the time” to “update her on everything that’s going on.” But the logistics of a 19-hour “massive time difference” between Los Angeles and Fiji make conversations difficult.

“I try to keep her in the loop of everything that’s going on,” Katie explained. “But, it’s hard sometimes because I want her to be around and experiencing everything, and the fun little things that I might forget to mention in our conversations. We both missed Diane Keaton , which sucked.”

Katie strives to make daily visits to Something About Her, but the drive from Valley Village to West Hollywood poses its own challenges.

“It’s just not down the street, it’s over the hill, so, sometimes, it just doesn’t physically make sense to go there,” she said.

As it is, Something About Her does have an operating team that takes care of the nitty-gritty. Though Katie does make the effort to be on hand.

“We have a manager, and we have staff,” she revealed. “I go almost every day.”

Being a business owner is consuming, to say the least. But Katie makes sure to get some downtime. Even at the risk of missing out on some very famous patrons.

“I mean, I’ve been trying to give myself personal time. It’s just good for me to do that,” Katie explained of missing Diane Keaton because she was in a pilates class. “And also with having podcasts and other stuff going on, like sometimes I just can’t make it in.”
