Vegan Foodie Bowl is coming to The Americana at Brand , according to owner Gwen Stephenson . The restaurant is currently in the permitting process and should be open by September .
“The spirit of our food is Afro-vegan. We are Panamanian and serve a lot of staples from our country. For example, rice and beans with vegan chicken, Sancocho, drinks like panela, plus American options like gluten-free mac and cheese, burgers, hot dogs, cakes – all vegan. Our bowls and dishes are all based on fresh veggies and organic ingredients,” says Gwen.
Gwen started the concept with her sister, Crystal, a year ago, initially operating out of a ghost kitchen, and quickly gained popularity. They previously had a shop in Canoga Park but Gwen has since traded that space for the new site at The Americana. While Crystal will not be working at the new location, Gwen emphasizes that the brand is all about family.
“I’ve been a vegan for 20 years, and all the dishes were basically born out of a need to serve my kids creative and delicious food. Everything we serve is inspired by and for them,” she adds.
“We’re really thrilled to be coming to Glendale. A lot of people are waiting for us to open and we think they’ll be very happy with this new option in the neighborhood. One thing we want to emphasize is that you don’t need to be vegan to visit our restaurant, everyone can try.”
