2 future Hall of Famers on track to return for Dodgers

The Dodgers are scuffling a bit right now as their injury woes take their toll, but manager Dave Roberts had some good news Sunday while speaking with reporters. Mookie Betts, Clayton Kershaw and Jason Heyward are all making good progress in their returns from injury.

Betts just started fielding ground balls after breaking his left hand when he was hit by a pitch. That he's fielding grounders with his left hand is a very good sign for his eventual return. LA has missed his presence atop the order, even with Shohei Ohtani raking out of the leadoff spot.

Kershaw is set to continue his rehab with an appearance at Triple-A Oklahoma City. Barring a setback or additional soreness after that outing he could be back in the Dodgers rotation in short order. Even though Kershaw isn't in his prime, his experience and leadership has been sorely missed as LA navigates major injury problems in its starting staff.

Heyward suffered a bone bruise in his knee and is on track to be back with the club after the All-Star break. While he's not in his prime at this point, the Dodgers outfield depth can't withstand his absence. James Outman was called up when Heyward went down, he started 3-for-5 at the plate, but is 0-for-6 since then with six strikeouts.
