Good morning and happy Tuesday. The cooling trend ends today as forecasters say another heatwave starts tomorrow that could bring extreme heat to inland areas later this week.

You can expect clear and sunny skies today after the morning low clouds. Along the coast expect highs in the 70s with some winds up to 15 mph, up to 79 degrees for the inland coast.

Orange County inland areas will see highs in the low to mid 80s, between upper 80s to low 90s for the San Fernando and San Gabriel valleys, and in the low 90s for the Inland Empire and Santa Clarita Valley.

High deserts will see highs between 90 to 105 degrees, and up to 112 in Coachella Valley.

Tonight's lows will drop to the mid 60s, 70s for the deserts.

    This day in history

This fact is for Oppenheimer fans: On this day in 1945, the Manhattan project was successful in its first test of the atomic bomb.

    Things to do

    • Artists Take on LA: LACMA is hosting a screening of Ed Ruscha’s short film Elysian Park and the Stone Quarry Hills and a conversation about creating art in and about Los Angeles at the Academy Museum, the museum's new neighbor. It’s a great complement to this summer’s big Ed Ruscha exhibit and an opportunity to learn more about a range of artists who live and work here. Artists Judy Baca, Vincent Valez, and Ruscha himself will be on a panel moderated by LACMA CEO Michael Govan.
    • Free Amaro Tasting: Pretend you’re on that vacation in Italy by heading up to Highland Park for a free amaro tasting by local California spirits producer Brucato Amaro at the Arroyo Club. The brand will be on hand to do guided tastings of three types of amaro; they’ve also created special amaro-based cocktails available for purchase.
