A few months ago, Richard Simmons announced his skin cancer diagnosis. However, this did not deter the fitness guru from working or pulling the brakes on his career. Sadly, he was found dead in his home on Belfast Drive, Los Angeles, by a housekeeper who arrived that morning.

The Los Angeles Police Department has assured us of a full ongoing investigation, with no reports of suspicious activity so far. Sadly, Richard turned 76 just before the tragic event and was in talks with top composer Patrick Leonard for his promised Broadway musical.

After over ten years away from the public eye, Richard reappeared with a promise to deliver his own Broadway show, which would feature an open space for attendees to work out by the stage. The fact that he was working with Leonard, who composed with the likes of Madonna, Elton John, Bon Jovi, and Michael Jackson, shows Richard was creating something magical.

Although there were rumors and speculations about Richard’s decade-long silence, he clarified that he simply needed to recover from knee problems. During his last ever interview, which was a phone chat with PEOPLE, he expressed his gratitude to see another day; however, he did not live till the end of the next.
