A day after Jaylen Brown was caught on camera saying that Bronny James 'is not a pro,' LeBron Jr.'s agent weighed in on the matter.
The Los Angeles Lakers have been heavily criticized for drafting LeBron James' son Bronny with the 55th pick of the 2024 NBA Draft, and the youngster's poor performance in the Summer League has even brought more heat to the team. However, Brown's comment was by far the strongest criticism that James Jr. has received so far.
For Rich Paul , however, it was an acceptable opinion coming from a person with the authority to speak on the topic. It was, however, said during a private conversation with no intention to create a stir whatsoever.
"You know, I saw some stuff that came out about Jaylen Brown, things like that," said Paul on the Pat McAfee Show. "You can't take what everybody's opinion is and try to turn it against them or think that he's a bad person, or the young lady that was accompanying him was a bad person."
It was just a private conversation
According to Paul, there are two kinds of people out there talking about Bronny. There are experts without expertise and people like Brown who are actually in the league. He says that as an 'expert with expertise,' JB is entitled to his opinion, and Rich can accept that.
However, the Klutch Sports founder also said that Jaylen was merely having a private conversation with some friends and that it was not Brown's intention to make his comments public consumption.
"But I know Jaylen Brown, and I know he doesn't mean that with any malice, he's just having a conversation. It's just the world that we live in today, why would he think someone is videoing him saying anything?" added Paul.

Brown was watching the Lakers vs. Celtics Summer League game
The incident happened when Jaylen, his girlfriend Kysre Gondrezick, and WNBA superstar rookie Angel Reese dropped by to watch the Lakers play the Celtics in the ongoing NBA Summer League tournament in Las Vegas. At one point during the game, the broadcast cameras focused on the trio who were seated at courtside. Then, internet detectives made a big story out of their conversation.
Brown could be seen saying, ' I don't think Bronny is a pro ' while leaning towards his companions. The two ladies seemed to agree before Brown added: 'I think because of his name, he'll be on the Lakers.'
The 2024 NBA champion has since replied to the video on social media , praising LeBron Sr.'s longevity and greatness in being able to play alongside his son. JB also said that he is looking forward to watching Bronny grow in the league because he has all the tools around him to be successful.
