Bronny James’ Agent Reveals Sole Decision Maker Behind Lakers Draft Pick

Rich Paul, founder of Klutch Sports Group and Bronny James' agent, recently disclosed on the Pat McAfee Show who was ultimately responsible for drafting James with the 55 ^th overall pick.

Paul shared that it was Lakers owner Jeanie Buss who made the decisive call to draft James, contrary to popular belief that it was Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka's decision or his father LeBron James'.

"Look, Jeanie Buss decided that she’s making this call, and she’s been able to see Bronny in all aspects, not only from a basketball perspective but also from a character perspective," Paul shared.

While there was speculation that LeBron James played a key role in the decision, Paul clarified that it was primarily Buss's choice.

Fortunately for LeBron, her decision allows him the opportunity to play alongside his son, marking them as the first father-son duo in NBA history, despite not having played together on the court yet.

The start of Bronny James' NBA career has been marred with controversy and drama.

During the 2024 NBA Draft, speculation swirled about his preferences, with rumors suggesting he would only consider playing for the Suns or Lakers. Paul confirmed that Bronny did entertain the idea of playing in Australia if picked by any of the other 28 NBA teams.

"As for the Australia thing, it is what it is," he said.

Fans have also questioned his unusual, fully guaranteed contract, given the fact he was drafted so low.
