Slim 400 Murder Suspect Hit With Decades-Long Prison Sentence

A suspect in the 2021 murder of rapper Slim 400 has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after striking a plea deal with prosecutors.

On Tuesday (July 16), Judge Altus Hudsonto sentenced Michael Terry, 35, to 32 years in state prison after Terry previously plead guilty to voluntary manslaughter for his role in Slim 400’s, born Vincent Cohran, death. Tamra Lynn Bell, Terry’s codefendant and accomplice in the shooting, has plead guilty to felony accessory after the fact and is scheduled to be sentenced in January 2024.

Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón released a statement to Slim 400’s family and loved ones following the sentencing of Terry, vowing to continue local law enforcements commitment to curbing gun violence in the city.

“Our hearts go out to the families of Mr. Cohran, an artist in the Los Angeles community who was taken far too soon by a tragic act of gun violence,” Gascón wrote. “Our Community Violence Reduction Unit vigorously prosecutes gun violence to protect our communities. Gun violence has no place in our society, and we will continue to work closely with communities we serve to help prevent these senseless crimes.”

Slim 400 was gunned down in Dec. 2021 following a dispute with Terry outside of his home in the Inglewood section of Los Angeles. Officers responding to reports of shots fired in the area found the rapper lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds and transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead after succumbing to his injuries.

A close friend and collaborator of YG, the 400 Records affiliate is best known for releasing his 2016 single “Bruisin” featuring YG and Sad Boy Loko, as well as an appearance on “Word Is Bond” from YG’s Still Brazy album. Slim 400 released several solo projects prior to his passing, including All Blassik in 2016, High Off TTreezIn in 2019, and his most recent album, BompTTon , in 2021.
