Pop Smoke's mother Audrey Jackson has addressed the late rapper's killer after he made some disparaging comments.

On Thursday, July 18, The Breakfast Club's Jess Hilarious reported on Jackson's response to King Vermont Raskel a.k.a "Blockstar," who opened up about the murder shortly after he was released from prison. In his conversation with Adam 22, Blockstar sent his condolences to Pop's family, but refused to apologize. Jackson responded to Blockstar in a recent radio interview. Pop's mom said she heard about his "disrespectful" comments, but emphasized that she doesn't pay attention to those types of updates.

“I felt a way when you just said he was being disrespectful because I’ve been told he’s been interviewing and being disrespectful," Jackson told TT Torrez . "I gotta let that go because that’ll eat me up, I gotta let that go. The bottom line is your life is over. His life is finished. He’s living but if that’s his approach to what he’s done, life is done for him."

Blockstar's name was initially shielded from the public since he was 15 when he and three other men broke into Pop Smoke's Airbnb in Los Angeles and fatally shot him in 2020. He pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and home invasion robbery in 2023. He was given a four-year sentence in prison while the other defendants are still awaiting trial. Because he was charged as a juvenile, the details behind the case and his early release are sealed.

Numerous fans and members of the media have condemned Adam 22's discussion with Blockstar. They both have faced backlash online since the interview aired earlier this month. The No Jumper podcast host defended his interview and said his only intentions were to set the story straight about Pop's death. However, Adam was criticized for giving Blockstar a platform to disrespect the deceased artist.

“I’m not sorry about nothing,” Blockstar said. “It should’ve never happened, but I ain’t sorry. If I could go back, I’d go back. But I ain’t sorry. People die every day. [Pop Smoke] was rapping about it. All types of stuff. So, I ain’t sorry about it... I send my condolences to the family. I wish it never happened. But I don’t regret nothing. Growing up, my people, my family told me, ‘You ain’t sorry for nothing. Whatever you did, you did it for a reason and stand on it.’”

Pop Smoke was only 20 when Blockstar and his crew took his life. The prominent rapper had been preparing for the release of his debut album Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon . It arrived five months after he died. Pop's estate and label followed up with a second posthumous album Faith in 2021.
