An armed robbery suspect led law enforcement on a high-speed chase throughout Los Angeles County on Wednesday evening with an infant in tow — and even livestreamed some of the trek on Instagram.

The pursuit spanned multiple jurisdictions throughout the patchwork of municipalities that collectively make up the City of Angels, according to law enforcement. While the incident began in the tony confines of Beverly Hills and ended in studio-centric Culver City, the suspect took an indirect route and added several miles to the journey.

And the hectic drive occurred at the height of rush hour.

The chase started in Hawthorne, a city in the South Bay region of LA, at 5:40 p.m., according to the Hawthorne Police Department. Officers allegedly spotted a vehicle linked to an earlier robbery in Beverly Hills and started after the vehicle, according to a report by Los Angeles-based West Coast ABC flagship KABC .

Hawthorne police quickly radioed for help from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Nearly as quickly, the driver pulled over in LA and three men got out — fleeing on foot. While police nabbed two suspects through containment efforts, a third suspect made his way into a Kia sedan and sped off.

Initially, the man behind the wheel of the Kia was presumed to have stolen the sedan in a carjacking. Authorities later learned that was not the case — he had apparently made his way into a planned getaway car with his girlfriend and their 2-month-old daughter inside.

Whether the woman was aware of the circumstances is currently unknown, but police say the man, at some point, called her to come pick him up, according to West Coast The CW flagship KTLA .

In the second car, the driver allegedly fled into downtown LA — darting in and out of traffic, driving the wrong way into oncoming traffic, running red lights and stop signs, and almost crashing into a bus run by Metro, the county-serving mass transit authority. The trip would also take the car and police through the LA neighborhood of Hyde Park and the city of Inglewood.

In time-honored fashion, Angelenos were able to watch an overhead view of the chase via various cameras affixed to helicopters owned and operated by their preferred local news stations.

Meanwhile, the suspect himself allegedly thought it prudent to show Instagram users the view from inside the speeding car.

“It’s crazy to think that not only is this guy driving like a madman, not only does he have his 2-month-old daughter in the car and his child’s mother, but he’s taking the time to get on his phone and livestream the whole thing,” Deputy Tony Lomedico said at a press conference in comments reported by KABC. “It goes beyond words when you meet an individual like that.”

The alleged account in question is no longer active, however, KTLA claims to have captured a few moments of drama from the livestream — as the child’s mother implores the man to pull over.

“Just let us out the car,” she says at one point.

The man responds: “This is sheriffs, they going to kill me.”

The woman upbraids him for the girl being in the car during the chase: “You’re not thinking about your baby right now. You’re fixing to get your baby killed.”

“Bro, I don’t want to go back to jail,” the man replies.

The woman screams: “It’s over, bro, it’s over. It’s reality.”

In the Blair Hills neighborhood of Culver City, it was over. The area is hemmed in by three large parks and set back into the foothills of the Baldwin Hills mountain range. Once the suspect was there, the car had few options about the road ahead — especially after turning down one of many dead-end streets in the area.

Police used a spike strip to force the issue and drew the chase to a close.

As the driver surrendered with his hands up, the woman in the back seat carried their baby girl, according to West Coast Fox flagship KTTV . The man embraced his daughter and girlfriend quickly before stepping away nearly as fast — with his hands raised high into the air.

    He was arrested without incident.

“I was just thankful I was there,” Deputy Adriana Martinez said at the press conference. “My concern was the baby. She was crying and I wanted to comfort her. My motherly instincts kicked in. I tried to soothe her, stop her from crying. We ended up taking care of her. It was great to be there. It made me feel like I was holding my daughter when she was small.”

The infant was unharmed throughout the chaotic events of the day, according to the Culver City Fire Department.

It is unclear if the woman — who was not arrested — will face charges. The man is reportedly facing several charges, including carjacking, robbery, kidnapping, and being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to the sheriff’s department.
