“I’m the face of Gucci,” Miley Cyrus cheered, taking the mic poolside at the Chateau Marmont Thursday night, and bringing love to the luxury brand that’s always felt it in Los Angeles. “ And Kendall Jenner on harmony.”

The face of the new Flora Gorgeous Orchid fragrance, Cyrus made a grand entrance, mugging for cameras with a perfume bottle, and playfully posing with Gucci creative director Sabato De Sarno at the piano.

For her actual performance, she kept it short and sweet, belting out just one song, her hit “Flowers,” to a crowd that included Jenner, Salma Hayek , Kim Petras, Maude Apatow, Law Roach, Kelly Sawyer and many, many raised iPhones capturing the performance.

De Sarno dutifully worked the packed patio, steered by the Gucci crew to all the photo ops and selfies, and chatted for a while with Hayek, wife of Gucci owner Kering’s chief executive officer Francois-Henri Pinault. The luxury brand may be in the doldrums sales-wise, but the pair were all smiles.

“My summer’s going to start next week,” said the designer, who came to L.A. for the party and for a shoot. “I’ve been on set,” he said. “Here or on set,” he said of the legendary hotel.

He did make time to do one thing: try an Erewhon smoothie. “It was amazing,” De Sarno said, adding that he is determined to come back for a more leisurely visit that will include his husband, his dogs and driving around in a convertible. “I want to be a tourist one day,” he laughed.

Some were meeting De Sarno for the first time, including Dree Hemingway, who was wearing Gucci glasses and a crisp white cotton lace eyelet tank dress, with her sister Langley Fox in a pale green Gucci logo shorts set. “He’s so sweet. His dog has the same name as my daughter, Luce,” Hemingway said.

Olympic gold medal winning snowboarder Chloe Kim was looking patriotic in a red-white-and-blue Gucci zip-up sweatshirt which she customized for a cuter, snug fit, and wore over a bra top and baggy jeans. She is getting ready to head to Paris to be a guest commentator for a few Olympics events, and excited to watch other athletes parade in the Opening Ceremony. “In Beijing, Ralph Lauren was so kind to give us a heated back panel. It was so cold, like walk outside and your eyelashes froze cold,” said Kim, who designs her own collection for Roxy.

Others were getting ready to leave on vacation or just coming back.

Stylist Maeve Reilly was coming off her wedding in Grand Cayman at the end of June, where she wore a Vivienne Westwood gown. “When you know, you know,” she said of her real estate hubby Zach Quittman. “It was incredible,” Rumer Willis said of the wedding. For the Gucci event, the actress had matched her electric orange eye shadow to her orange lace minidress.

Humberto Leon is looking forward to the debut of “Pop Star Academy: Katseye,” the Netflix series coming up Aug. 21. Leon is the creative director for the girl group and the show documents its rise. “It was so much fun,” he said of doing the project.

Guests sipped cocktails, including one dubbed the Sparkling Personality, and noshed on mini burgers and fries, soaking up the outdoor scene decorated to mimic the fragrance campaign film, with a tunnel of flowers, and the swimming pool scattered with floating blossoms.

Some parties end up with people in the pool, but on Thursday night, it was Kim Petras’ Gucci chain link bracelet that had to be fished out of the deep end. An unexpected splash.
