Miguel Rojas on Winning a World Series With the Dodgers: ‘It Would Mean the World’

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Miguel Rojas is well aware that his career is winding down. At 35 years old, Rojas is likely to play a few more seasons before transitioning into a coaching role, ideally with the Dodgers.

Despite being one of the game’s most consistent defenders at the shortstop position, Rojas has not received many honors throughout his career. He has never been named an All-Star or Gold Glove winner in his decade-long career.

Rojas would love to earn those accomplishments; more than those, he’d love to become a World Series Champion.

“It would mean everything,” Rojas told Dodgers Nation’s Doug McKain on Dodgers Dugout Live. “I dream about myself being a big leaguer. I dream about being an everyday shortstop, I dream about winning a Gold Glove – I’ve been close to that – I dream about being in the playoffs, and I dream about winning a World Series. I think that’s the last piece that Miguel Rojas needs to complete everything that I dream about.

Rojas, who has stated he wants to finish his career with the Dodgers, wants to win that World Series with the Dodgers, who he still knows as the team who took a chance on him by giving him his first major league appearance on June 6, 2014.

“And obviously doing it with the Los Angeles Dodgers will be a great feat for me, because I started my career here,” Rojas told McKain. “They gave me the opportunity to play in the big leagues, and now I’m not just playing in the big leagues, I’m being a big part of something that we want to do and we want to accomplish. It would mean the world.”

Rojas, who was traded to the Miami Marlins after the 2014 season, returned to the team in 2023 when the Marlins traded him back to Los Angeles. The Dodgers signed Rojas to an extension in February, and Rojas has slashed .284/.330/.426 with three home runs and 21 RBIs in 64 games for the Dodgers in 2024.
