LeBron James told The Athletic that he was very proud of Bronny James ' Summer League performances. While talking to the outlet, he added that his young age means there is so much room for him to grow into the player he will one day become, and if Bronny continues to work hard the way he has, he will get there one day.

“As a family, obviously we’re just proud of the fact that he’s even at this point. It doesn’t matter if he plays well, it doesn’t matter if he doesn’t play well. I mean, he’s 19 years old, so he has so much room to grow."

"He has so much more to learn, but the best thing, he just keeps his head down and just stays focused. So the best will continue to come as he continues to work and continues to get better and better.”

Bronny James had initially struggled in his first four Summer League games , going 0-15 from beyond the arc, and shooting just 22.5% from the field. But since then, he has been doing much better, as he registered multiple games with double-digit scoring performances, and much better shooting efficiency.

In his previous two Summer League games, Bronny James has averaged 12.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.0 blocks, and 0.5 steals. His performances really seemed to turn around after Jaylen Brown said Bronny was not a pro in the NBA .

It was strange to hear that from Brown, as he had a near-identical bad start to the 2016 NBA Summer League as Bronny had this year, going 5-26 from the field in his first three games.

What To Expect From Bronny James In The G-League?

Bronny James is expected to play for the Lakers G-League team for most of the season. It's hard to tell from just his Summer League performances how he will fare in the G-League, as it has truly been a mixed bag.

It might be safe to say that the last two games for the Lakers is the Bronny we can expect in the G-League; a two-way player who can provide decent scoring but won't jump out of the box score.

It's being reported that the Lakers will have him down in the G-League for as long as they need to, and will call him up depending on any unavailability within the roster, and based on how he develops. The Lakers are definitely going to play the long game with Bronny, and not throw him into the deep end right now.

Bronny's mental toughness has been on full display in this Summer League. After a horrendous four-game stretch, many had decided what kind of player Bronny was. But Bronny stayed true to himself and his game, and continued working, and it yielded positive results.

Now, the Lakers will see whether they need to make any adjustments to his development plan, and if there are any other areas of his game that need more work than they had anticipated earlier.
