    2 major pieces of Dodgers pitching rotation returning

    The Dodgers called for pitching help, and that call was answered from inside the house.

    Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts told reporters after Saturday's walk-off win over the Red Sox that both Tyler Glasnow and Clayton Kershaw are slated to come off the IL the following week.

    Glasnow, who has been dealing with back tightness, is set to start Wednesday in Game 3 of the Dodgers' series vs. the Giants.

    Kershaw will then make his season debut in the series finale against San Francisco on Thursday. It'll be the southpaw's first start since having left shoulder surgery in the offseason. It'll also be his third consecutive start against the Giants going back to the end of last season.

    They're the first two of the seven starting pitchers on the IL for the Dodgers to return. While Kershaw isn't in his prime, his veteran presence will help steady a pitching staff littered with inexperience. He'll give LA some certainty every fifth day.

    As for Glasnow, his injury wasn't expected to keep him out long. He figures to step right back into the top of the Dodgers' rotation. When he went on the IL he had a 3.47 ERA with 143 strikeouts in career-high 109.0 innings across 18 starts.

    Gavin Stone has been outstanding this season, but having Glasnow atop the rotation takes a lot of the onus to be great off the rookie.
