    L.A. Mayor Karen Bass will be part of Paris Olympic delegation, Biden announces

    President Joe Biden announced Monday that Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass will be part of the presidential delegation to Paris to attend the opening ceremony for the 2024 Olympic Games.

    The other members of the delegation are California Senator Alex Padilla, Delaware Senator Chris Coons, LA28 Olympic & Paralympic Games Chairperson Casey Wasserman, U.S. Ambassador Denise Campbell Bauer, Olympic gold medalist Brian Boitano, and Olympic gold medalist Dawn Staley.

    First Lady Jill Biden is set to lead the delegation to the opening ceremony, which is on July 26.

    A second delegation going to the closing ceremony includes Long Beach Rep. Robert Garcia, California Senator Laphonza Butler, U.S. Ambassador Denise Campbell Bauer, Olympic bronze medalist Chaunté Lowe, and Olympic gold medalist Briana Scurry.

    Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff is set to lead the delegation to the closing ceremony, which is on Aug. 11.

    There are two other presidential delegations for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Paralympic Games that have yet to be announced.
