Late Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek may be gone but he never will be forgotten, especially since he’s now received a posthumous honor.

The legendary game show host, who led Jeopardy! from 1984 until he died at 80 in 2020, is being remembered with a new Forever stamp. Alex's legacy was commemorated at a first-day-of-issue event in Los Angeles, California, by current Jeopardy! host Ken Jennings , Alex’s wife Jean Trebek, and Michael Elston on Monday. Michael serves as the Secretary of the Board of Governors of the U.S. Postal Service.

Featured on Alex’s Forever stamp is a question about him that falls against Jeopardy!’s notable blue backdrop.

The question included on the stamp reads, “This naturalized U.S. citizen hosted the quiz show Jeopardy! for 37 seasons." Beneath the question is the answer written in small letters, which read: Who is Alex Trebek?” After Alex’s stamp was revealed, Jean, who married Alex in 1990, showed her appreciation to the U.S. Postal Service for paying tribute to her deceased husband.

"His life had such a beautiful impact on so many people around the world, and it's just a real honor for my family and I to be here with all of you to acknowledge that," Jean said. "Alex would have felt overwhelmed with humility and joy to receive such a distinctive tribute."

Jean also touched on Alex hosting the show for several seasons, revealing that his role was a “labor of love” for him.

"[Alex] also found great pleasure in the fact that the contestants were the true stars of the show—and he loved getting to know his audience," she added. "This was a perfect time for him to share more about himself, as well as to show off his great wit."

Michael also shared a sweet sentiment about Alex in a statement.

“Millions of Americans invited Alex Trebek into their living rooms each weeknight,” he disclosed. “After thousands of shows over 37 seasons, he was someone we trusted and felt like we knew. And with his intelligence and wit, he made it cool to be smart.”

Alex being honored with a stamp on July 22 was befitting since Monday would’ve been his 84th birthday. While Jeopardy! social media accounts wished their late host a happy birthday, the episode that aired that night didn't.

The episode itself went on as normal - with Ken Jennings hosting as Monica Anderson, Sean Duffie, and Neilesh Vinjamuri - fans online paid tribute to Alex. One fan wrote on Reddit that they were "thinking of all the joy he has brought to all of us over the years."
