Portland Trail Blazers forward Jerami Grant.

The Los Angeles Lakers had a rough start to the 2024 NBA offseason.

Missing out on former Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson was the starting point, but overall, they've been virtually silent on the free-agency front.

But as far as trade chatter goes, there's been no shortage of that, and the latest comments from ESPN NBA insider Zach Lowe sent Laker Nation into a bit of a frenzy. Although nothing concrete, the Lakers have been linked to Portland Trail Blazers forward Jerami Grant numerous times this offseason, but the rumblings pointed to a high asking price.

Lowe's comments on the latest edition of "The Lowe Post" podcast could signal that the Lakers are on the verge of a deal to acquire Grant.

“Should we start printing the Jerami Grant Lakers jerseys, by the way?" Lowe stated. “Should we just do it now? ... I might order one.”

Although the Lakers have been linked to numerous players dating back to the 2023-24 NBA trade deadline, these comments from Lowe were noteworthy.

Grant would be a great fit with the Lakers, but the big question is how much GM Rob Pelinka and company would be willing to give up to acquire the 30-year-old forward.

He's been excellent over the past four seasons, dating back to 2020-21, his first season with the Detroit Pistons. In two years with Detroit and two after with the Blazers, Grant has averaged 20.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists over the four years.

At the very least, if Lowe's comments are any indication, the Lakers are a team to monitor in the lead-up to the 2024-25 season, as the push for Grant may be fully on.
