Dodgers 'working to land' Tigers Cy Young candidate, per insider

The Los Angeles Dodgers are doing all they can to trade for an elite starting pitcher before Tuesday night.

The Athletic's Jim Bowden reported on Monday that the Dodgers are still in the hunt for All-Star starting pitcher and Cy Young candidate Tarik Skubal of the Detroit Tigers.

Although Detroit has rebuffed all offers for Skubal up until now, Bowden believes the Dodgers could present the Tigers with an offer that is too special to turn down in the hours before Major League Baseball's trade deadline.

"The Tigers have not received an offer that would tempt them to even think about trading Tarik Skubal, though of course that could change," Bowden said.

"The Dodgers are looking for an impact arm and working to land one of the top three starters (Skubal, Snell and Crochet) if they can."

Los Angeles isn't the only franchise seeking Skubal. The Baltimore Orioles are reportedly also vying for Skubal's services, and a fierce bidding war could be on the horizon, with Detroit standing to gain a handsome return.

How much will Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes be willing to give up for Skubal? The Tigers are sure to keep raising the cost for their ace with mere hours remaining until he can no longer be moved.
