Dodgers remain likely landing spot for Tigers righty hurler, per insider

Which of the trade market's starting pitchers will the Los Angeles Dodgers acquire before Tuesday night?

With the deadline a little over 24 hours away, it's still difficult to say.

The Dodgers want one of the top three starters available -- Garrett Crochet of the Chicago White Sox, Tarik Skubal of the Detroit Tigers, or Blake Snell of the San Francisco Giants -- but Los Angeles also must prepare a contingency plan for if all three of those aces land elsewhere.

As such, Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes is having discussions with the Toronto Blue Jays about Yusei Kikuchi.

Another target for Gomes outside of the top three starters is Jack Flaherty of the Detroit Tigers.

Jim Bowden of The Athletic reported on Monday that Flaherty is on the radar of contenders -- like the Dodgers -- who are waiting to see where Crochet, Skubal, and Snell end up.

"Several teams are waiting to see what will happen with Skubal, Snell and Crochet before moving on to the next level of available starting pitchers," Bowden said. "However, it appears Erik Fedde, Yusei Kikuchi and Jack Flaherty all will be dealt as soon as the situations with the top three are flushed out."

With Fedde landing with the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday afternoon, Kikuchi and Flaherty remain available from Bowden's "next level" market for starters.

So many different possibilities could play out for Los Angeles overnight, and one of them is that Jack Flaherty will be wearing a Dodgers uniform by Tuesday evening.
