This Mom Thought Dwight Yoakam’s Surprise Guest, Post Malone, Was Just “Some Hillbilly Dude”

Total mom move. Over the weekend, Dwight Yoakam performed at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles, California, bringing out an exceptional guest, Post Malone . Malone surprised the crowd by joining Yoakam on some of his biggest hits like "Little Ways" and "Fast As You." The younger side of Yoakam's listeners knows who Malone is and probably recognizes the crossover, after Malone used Yoakam's band in the viral 2021 videos performing for Matthew McConaughey‘s 2021 We’re Texas virtual benefit concert. However, that does not mean that everyone in the crowd knows who the new country music star is. We all know the moment when you are playing a song in the car, and your parents turn it down and go, "Who is this?" Even though you think it should be someone easily recognizable, it is not always the case. And that is exactly what happened at the Greek Theater show, with some folks in the crowd not knowing who Malone was. And one mom is going viral on social media now for showing her daughter the special guest after the show - hilariously referring to Post Malone as "some hillbilly dude." But she was clearly more excited about seeing Dwight Yoakam. The video's onscreen caption perfectly sums up the daughter's disbelief as her mother shows her images of Malone next to Yoakam rocking out. "My parents came home and said they saw some hillbilly dude named 'Post Malone' guest star at their country concert last night. I can't believe this." I mean, Malone was rocking a scruffy look, so maybe 'hillbilly dude' isn't the worst description, but he's a pretty famous hillbilly dude at that. The internet came with the jokes in the comments section. "This is the most Post Malone thing *ever*." "Posty out here living his best life in disguise." "More chillbilly dude." "I feel like Posty would consider this a compliment." " Posty be having those country vibes forever. No shade on them thinking it’s just some hillbilly dude."
