Sharon Tate’s Killers: Where Are the Manson Family Members Now?

Sharon Tate, who rose to fame in the 1960s, is remembered to the day after her untimely passing. The actress was pregnant at the time when she tragically passed away at the age of 26 in 1969. The members of the Manson family brutally murdered Tate and six others in a two-night crime spree in Los Angeles. Decades later, two of Sharon Tate’s killers are alive in 2024. American serial killer Charles Manson headed the infamous cult. He died in 2017 after serving decades in prison.

According to The Standard, the members of the Manson family who were involved in Tate’s murder included Tex Watson, Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel, and Linda Kasabian.

Where are Sharon Tate’s killers now?

NBC News stated that one of Tate’s killers, Tex Watson, was denied parole for the 18th time in 2021. He was further reported to be eligible for parole in five years. Watson was sentenced to death in 1971. However, it was commuted to life in prison after the death penalties were overturned by the California Supreme Court the following year. While incarcerated, Watson married, divorced, and had four children, per People Magazine.

Susan Atkins, another of Sharon Tate’s killers, died in prison in 2009 at the age of 61 after a battle with brain cancer, reported CNN. According to the California Department of Corrections, Patricia Krenwinkel, 76, is now at the California Institution for Women, a state prison in Chino, San Bernardino County. People Magazine reported that in 2022, Krenwinkel’s parole was blocked by California Gov. Gavin Newsom because she posed “an unreasonable danger to society” at that time. It was the 15th time her parole was denied.

According to People Magazine, the Manson family member Linda Kasabian was the “star witness” in the Tate-LaBianca murder trial. In exchange for her testimony, she was granted immunity. Kasabian died in 2023 at 73, reported The New York Times. Following the trial, she kept a low profile and changed her name several times. Kasabian was using the name Linda Chiochios at the time of her death.
