Paying tribute to the late, great Robbie Robertson.

Today, it was announced that Life Is a Carnival: A Musical Celebration of Robbie Robertson, a show honoring his life and legacy, will take place at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, California on Thursday, October 17th.

Of course, Robertson was renowned for his groundbreaking work as a guitarist, first with Bob Dylan in the mid-late 1960s and early-mid 1970s. He went on to become the main songwriter and co-founder of The Band, and is widely regarded as a founding father of the Americana music genre. He sadly passed away last August after a battle with prostate cancer.

Some fantastic artists will come together to play some of his fan-favorites and most beloved classics at the star-studded concert, including country artists like Eric Church, Jamey Johnson, Ryan Bingham and Margo Price, as well as tons of other legends like Mike Campbell, Eric Clapton, Elvis Costello, Van Morrison, Mavis Staples, Don Was, Bobby Weir and Lucinda Williams.

Trey Anastasio, Warren Haynes, Bruce Hornsby, Jim James, Noah Kahan, Daniel Lanois, Taj Mahal, Robert Randolph, Nathaniel Rateliff, Allison Russell, and Benmont Tench will all take the stage to perform, as well.

The concert will mark 50 years after this iconic venue, The Forum, served as the final stop on the famed tour of Bob Dylan and The Band, which was Dylan’s return to touring after an eight-year hiatus and became known as one of the largest and highest-profile tours of the era.

Executive Producers of Life Is a Carnival include Martin Scorsese (who Robertson worked with on many films as music supervisor and music producer), Jared Levine and Keith Wortman.

A portion of the proceeds from the concert event will go to The Woodland Cultural Centre, which funds and operates a range of arts, history and education programs on the Sixth Nations Reserve in Canada, where he grew up.

Tickets for the show go on sale this Friday, August 2nd.
