LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Police are investigating Tuesday the actions of a Los Angeles police officer who was caught on camera punching a handcuffed suspect in the Watts area.

The video posted on social media shows two officers arresting an unidentified Black man Sunday on 113th Street in Watts. The suspect is handcuffed with his hands behind his back and is heard asking loudly, "What did I do, though?"

At that point, one of the officers punches the man across the chin. The officers then continue adjusting the man's handcuffs and take him into custody.

It was unclear what prompted the arrest.

Police said the encounter is under investigation, and the officer involved has been removed from field duty.

Civil rights advocate Najee Ali called on the District Attorney's Office to pursue charges against the office during a news conference Monday outside the LAPD's Southeast Station.

Activists are expected to attend Tuesday's Police Commission meeting to also call for action.
