It is no secret that the Los Angeles Dodgers have been active in trying to improve their roster before the trade deadline, and even after completing a trade, they are reportedly still active before the deadline hits.

According to Dan Hayes of The Athletic Minnesota , the Dodgers were one of the teams to inquire about Minnesota Twins pitcher Jhoan Duran. Per Hayes, the asking price was a bit too high.

The 6’5, 230-pound Dominican righty would have been a nice addition to the Dodgers bullpen and could have potentially even taken over closing or set-up duties.

Per MinnesotaSportsFan.com , “Duran has taken a step back this season and his velocity is down an MPH or two from where it was in 2023. But he’s still a 6’5″, 230-pound 26-year-old , with three remaining years of arbitration. Oh, and he’s throwing 101+ MPH with a nasty slider and 98 MPH ‘splinker'”.

This season, Duran has a 6-5 record with an ERA of 3.51 in 36 games. He has 33.1 innings pitched, and 13 earned runs over those innings.

The Dodgers decided that the juice wasn’t quite worth the squeeze, but will they still shake the trade tree? They have about an hour and a half till the deadline so we will know very soon.
