The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired one of the best pitchers on the market minutes before the trade deadline arrived.

Still, Los Angeles needs some help on the mound, Fans were chomping at the bit as they waited for the Dodgers to do something before the trade deadline. Minutes before it arrived, LA made its move.

According to Jeff Passan of ESPN , the Dodgers have acquired starting pitcher Jack Flaherty from the Detroit Tigers.

Drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2014, Flaherty made his major league debut in 2017. Since then, he has boasted a 29-39 win-loss record with a 3.67 ERA and 875 strikeouts.

This season, Flaherty has a 2.95 ERA in 18 starts. He currently ranks fifth in the league when it comes to strikeout percentage.

In exchange, the Tigers will receive Thayron Liranzo and Trey Sweeney, per reports from Robert Murray of FanSided . They are ranked as the Dodgers' eighth and 22nd prospects, respectively.
