Robbie Robertson Tribute Concert to Feature Performances from Jamey Johnson, Ryan Bingham, Lucinda Williams, & More

Later this year, a genre-spanning list of top-tier artists will gather at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, California to honor a musical trailblazer. Life Is a Carnival: A Musical Celebration of Robbie Robertson will celebrate the legacy of the late songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.

Robertson left an indelible mark on the music world. He was in several bands early in his career and served as Bob Dylan’s lead guitarist for a while. However, some of his most important work came when he, Rick Danko, Garth Hudson, Richard Manuel, and Levon Helm formed The Band in 1967. The Band was instrumental in the creation of the Americana genre and Robertson wrote some of their biggest songs. For instance, he penned “The Weight,” “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down,” “Up on Cripple Creek,” and more.

After The Band dissolved, Roberts kicked off a successful solo career. Additionally, he worked alongside filmmakers to create scores for films like Raging Bull, Casino, Gangs of New York, Shutter Island, The Wolf of Wall Street, Killers of the Flower Moon, and many more.

The concert takes place at the Forum 50 after it served as the final stop on the legendary tour of Bob Dylan and The Band which marked Dylan’s return to touring after a long hiatus. Performances from the tour make up the iconic joint album Before the Flood.

Life Is a Carnival: A Musical Celebration of Robbie Robertson will take place on October 17 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, California. Tickets go on sale via Ticketmaster this Friday (August 2) at 10 a.m. Pacific Time.
